Metal in Eye
Various eye conditions are interesting - we'll go into a few!
Metal In Conjunctiva of Eye
(Though it looks pretty bad, it's much less painful than in the cornea!)
Staining after removing Metal
(Note Metal seemed to be inserted in a 'sac' in conjunctiva!)
This patient was wearing safety glasses but the piece of metal hit his nose and bounced under his safety glasses into his eye. Don't you hate when this happens? With fluorescein staining, it seemed that the metal was in a 'sac' in the conjunctiva. It was an easy removal with jeweler's forceps. Staining after removal notes the entry of the metal from the right to left. Since the conjuntiva is less sensitive than the cornea, he was not in pain and was given a prophylactic antibiotic to use for 72 hours and a happy camper!
